DIY For The Win This Fall

I am not crafty. That being said I really enjoyed doing fall crafts this weekend. I took on quite a few, but the cost was low and they turned out great. Not only were they pretty easy to manage, but my kids were able to help and enjoy the crafts too.

Pumpkin Flower Pots:
I found this idea on Pinterest. You use the jack'o'latern candy pots from Halloween's of the past (or buy them at walmart). You spray them with spray paint (I used a sparkly gold color) and then take a mum out of the store pot and into the pumpkin. I also cut little slits in the bottom to allow water flow. They look cute and festive. I also decided if you were trying to go organic, you could do the same thing with a carved pumpkin. When all is said and done (and it begins to fester), you just bury the whole thing in the ground and the decaying pumpkin will supply the nutrients to the growing mum. Disclaimer: I did not try the latter. It is an idea I plan to try this week after we carve pumpkins.

Glass Leaves Candle Holder:
This is a great idea to bring as a gift for fall or to decorate you own house. You only need a mason jar, modge podge, and leaves. You cover the outside of the jar with the modge podge (or other glue) and then stick on the leaves. When you put a candle in it has a cute fall glow. My kids each made one this weekend. It was super easy and entertaining for all.

Wheelbarrow of Flowers:
This is a great one for fall. You just fill your wheelbarrow with straw, mums, pumpkins, squash, leaves, or whatever other fall items you have laying around. We used straw, mums, and pumpkins. You just park the wheelbarrow and arrange your items. This is great for curb appeal.

For those of you selling your homes in the fall market, it is a great idea to go ahead and decorate. Fall decorations can really add that welcoming appeal that draws in buyers. Even if you aren't living in the home, you can still add a yard decoration or a few candles to bring in the season. Sometimes it is the small touches that really bring buyers back.
